Supermicro Computer Unveils Super P5MMA and P5MMS Which Support MMXTM Technology, Synchronous DRAM, UltraDMA/33 and IR
San Jose, Calif. (Feb. 17, 1997) - SUPERMICRO Computer today announced the premier launching of SUPER P5MMA and P5MMS, in conjunction with the release of Intel’s 430TX chipset. SUPER P5MMA/P5MMS is designed for high-end personal computers to achieve higher levels of performance in multimedia applications such as 3D graphics and animations, virtual reality and video conferencing. Two slots of 64-bit DIMM sockets support 3.3V Sync DRAM for improved performance. The on-board EIDE provides ultra-DMA transfer rates of up to 33 MB/s. SUPER P5MMS supports fast IR of 4Mb/s.

SUPER P5MMA is an ATX size (12" x 8.3") mainboard. SUPER P5MMS is AT size (11" x 8.3"). Both support Pentium processors (200/180/166/150/133/120/100/90/75 MHz), 2.8V P55Cs with MMX (166 and 200 MHz), Cyrix, IBM-M1, AMD-K5 and AMD-K6 processors. The maximum memory capacity is 256 MB SDRAM, FPM or EDO. Other features include 4 PCI slots, 3/4 ISA slots, 2 EIDE interfaces, 1 floppy port, 2 serial ports, 1 ECP/EPP parallel port, 2 USB ports, PS/2 mouse, PS/2 keyboard and 1 IR port. P5MMS has an on-board system overheat temperature control.
