Supermicro's Fast Delivery of 440GX to Market

San Jose, California (June 29, 1998) — SUPERMICRO, first to release high-end motherboards with Intel’s newly announced 440GX chipset-- delivering an increase in main memory capability of up to 2 GB coupled with the current 100 MHz system bus speed.

SUPERMICRO’s SUPER P6DGS, P6DGU, P6DGE, and P6SGU, all based on Intel’s latest 440GX chipset inherit the added feature of increase memory capability, to compliment recent improvement of system bus speed of 100 MHz. Together, the new technology duo provides the ideal environment for the high demands of server applications. "Each new technological development gives SUPERMICRO the ability to offer a better and more complete quality server and high-end workstation solution to our customers." said Charles Liang, President and CEO of SUPERMICRO.

For better performance while lowering the overall cost of a server system, SUPERMICRO incorporates Adaptec AIC™ 7890 Ultra II SCSI, which provides outstanding performance with data transfer rate of 80 MB/sec, on SUPER P6DGU and P6SGU. An alternative is Adaptec AIC 7895 Dual Channel Ultra Wide SCSI integrated on P6DGS with on-board RAIDport to give increased I/O performance and fault tolerance for extended functionality.

Providing leading technology has always been SUPERMICRO’s strong suit. However with the release of the 440GX, SUPERMICRO’s unbeatable speed to deliver new products, proves its solid partnership with the industry’s technology leaders. SUPERMICRO’s lead to market is not only dependent on its strong partnership with industry leaders, but also on its highly experienced design engineers as SUPERMICRO’s original Redundant Cooling System power supply design received both the US and Taiwan patent certificates. A design currently implemented in the SC750-A [ATX form factor], the Redundant Cooling System goes beyond simply detecting server temperature, to prevent server failure. This highly demanded technology will be implemented in SUPERMICRO’s ATX chassis line by Q3’98. "To differentiate ourselves, SUPERMICRO aims to continue its lead in the motherboard market by always being the first to deliver new developments and technologies." said Charles Liang.
