Supermicro Provides 700 MHz Dual Xeon® Solutions in High Volume
San Jose, CA, May 22, 2000 - Supermicro, an Internet Server Solutions Provider, today announced high volume availability for several 700 MHz dual Xeon system boards. The Super S2DG2, S2DGU and S2DGE are dual Xeon Pentium III system boards that support dual 700 MHz 1MB/2MB Pentium III Xeon processors.
Released just recently, dual 700 MHz Xeon 1MB/2MB processors fill an important niche in the consumer market for high performance midrange servers and workstations. Supermicro has stepped up production on these system boards in response to a growing demand for 700 MHz solutions in the marketplace.
Based on Intel’s 440GX chipset, the S2DG2, S2DGU and S2DGE are ideal for servers, workstations and high end desktops and offer support for up to a full 2 GB SDRAM. The S2DG2 includes an Adaptec AIC-7896 controller for dual channel Ultra2 SCSI while the S2DGU features an Adaptec AIC-7890 controller for single channel Ultra2 SCSI. The S2DGE provides a dual 700 MHz solution without onboard SCSI. All three are excellent platforms for mission-critical file/print, communications, database and web-based applications and for primary servers for small businesses.
