Supermicro Announces Multiprocessor Servers Featuring Intel® Xeon® Processor MP 1.60 GHz with Hyper-threading Technology
SuperServer 8052 and SuperServer 8042 Quad Processor Servers Provide Industry Leading Computing Power
SAN JOSE, CA. March 12, 2002 – Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of server solutions
and motherboards, today announced the general availability of the
SuperServer 8052 and SuperServer 8042 quad processor servers, and
the SUPER P4QH6 quad processor motherboard. Based on the Intel®
Xeon™ Processor MP and the ServerWorks Grand Champion HE™ chipset,
the SUPER P4QH6 motherboard delivers industry leading computing
power and throughput for eBusiness and enterprise server applications.
With its combination of computing power and cutting-edge features,
the SUPER P4QH6 is the ideal multiprocessor server platform for
unsurpassed quality, power, and scalability. The SUPER P4QH6 is
the heart of the SuperServer 8052 and the SuperServer 8042, with
room for up to four Intel Xeon processor MP in a tower or 4U rack
mount chassis that are perfect for businesses that demand the ultimate
power afforded by today’s technology.
“Once again, Supermicro has integrated the newest quality technology
and delivered it to the marketplace ahead of the competition, said
Charles Liang, CEO and founder of Supermicro. “Our new quad servers
and motherboard are unmatched in terms of system performance, price-to-performance
ratio and high-availability requirements.”
Supermicro’s SuperServer 8052 and SuperServer 8042 represent the
most powerful servers incorporating the most advanced features presently
available on the market. Based on the SUPER P4QH6, the SuperServer
8042 is a 4U rackmount server that supports up to four Intel Xeon
processors MP at 1.60 GHz, up to 32GB of DDR-200 SDRAM, dual channel
Ultra160 SCSI for four hot-swap SCSI drive bays and support for
Adaptec® 2000S SCSI RAID. Ample power is supplied by three 350W
hot-plug power supply modules (for 700W + 350W backup) and six hot-plug
redundant cooling fans are included to keep the server running at
a cool efficiency. The SuperServer 8052 is a high-end tower server
also designed around the Super P4QH6 motherboard and shares many
of the same features as the SuperServer 8042. The tower configuration,
however, offers the additional space to accommodate up to 10 hot-swap
SCSI drive bays and three 5.25” drive bays, enabling the SuperServer
8052 to boast an incredible internal storage capacity of over 1,000
GB. The SuperServer 8052 also houses up to 10 cooling fans to provide
added security for system and data reliability.
