Supermicro Introduces Cost-effective Dual Processing Server and Motherboards Featuring Intel® Xeon® Processors 2.4GHz and Intel® E7500 Chipset
Supermicro’s SuperServer
7042M-6 Ships with Industry’s First Robust Rackmount/Tower Configurable
Chassis
SAN JOSE, CA. May 3, 2002 – Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of motherboards and
server solutions, today announced the availability of the SuperServer
7042M-6 server and the Super P4DMS-6GM and P4DME-M motherboards,
the first cost-effective products based on the Intel E7500 chipset
and supporting up to two Intel Xeon processors 2.4GHz. The SuperServer
7042M-6 also features the industry’s first truly robust chassis
that can be easily configured by the end user to be used as either
a 4U/rackmount or as a tower server. The SuperServer 7042M-6 server,
the Super P4DMS-6GM and Super P4DME-M motherboards are cost-effective
Intel E7500-based solutions designed to complement the fully featured
Intel E7500-based servers and motherboards that Supermicro has been
shipping since the end of February. These cost-effective solutions
were specifically designed for customers who don't require as much
PCI bandwidth afforded by the initial solutions but desire the same
speed and performance provided by the E7500 chipset and dual Xeon
processors. The 7042M-6 and P4DMS-6GM are ideal for general high-performance
servers for web and e-business applications in small to medium sized
businesses. The non-SCSI P4DME-M is an optimal choice for clustering
environments that employ a large number of nodes.
“Supermicro’s strong engineering team and technically innovative
leadership supports our commitment to being first to market with
industry-leading technology,” said Charles Liang, CEO and founder
of Supermicro. “Our products lead the industry in terms of system
performance, computing density, price-to-performance ratio, and
high-availability requirements.”
Supermicro has a reputation for debuting new technologies to the
market by being first to integrate them into new server and motherboard
solutions, and their customers have come to rely on Supermicro’s
ability to deliver such solutions ahead of the competition. The
company is anticipating continued success with their line of Intel®
E7500™ based products with the addition of these cost-effective
solutions.
