New Supermicro Motherboards Provide the Ultimate in High Performance Home or Office Computing

SAN JOSE, CA. May 20, 2002 –Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of motherboards and server solutions, today announced the availability of the Super P4SGA and Super P4SGL motherboards, both based on the new Intel 845G/845GL chipsets and supporting the highest speed Intel Pentium 4 processors. Supermicro’s new motherboards provide both the home or office user with an incredibly rich computing experience, combining the latest technological innovations in high performance graphics, chipset design, and processor speeds offered by Intel with the reliability and stability of Supermicro’s world class motherboard designs.

"Supermicro’s 845G motherboards offer customers new platforms that are ideal for emerging multimedia applications," said Charles Liang, CEO and founder of Supermicro. "The technological advances of the Intel 845G chipset and Pentium 4 processor combined with Supermicro’s award-winning motherboard design offer the end user improved performance on everything from gaming to the use of cutting-edge business tools."

The Super P4SGA and Super P4SGL motherboards feature a number of platform enhancements designed to deliver maximum system performance today while also creating a robust foundation for emerging applications.

  • Intel 845G/845GL chipset – designed to deliver the full performance and power of existing and future Intel Pentium 4 processors by creating a robust foundation built on a 533/400MHz system bus.

  • 533/400MHz System Bus – combines greater system performance with platform longevity by supporting higher CPU frequencies.

  • Intel® Extreme Graphics Technology – The Intel 845G/845GL chipset delivers a complete range of support for the Intel Pentium 4 processor by integrating the new Intel Extreme Graphics Core, providing the end user with superb graphics quality without the complexity and cost of an add-in graphics card. The Super P4SGA motherboard includes a 4xAGP slot for users who may want to upgrade later with a high-performance graphics card.

  • Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports – provides up to 40x greater bandwidth over original USB 1.1 for demanding I/O peripherals.

"Intel is proud to support Supermicro’s commitment to delivering the latest innovations to their customers" said Bill Leszinske, director of marketing, Intel Desktop Platform Group. "The technological advances, along with the quality and reliability of the Intel 845G/845GL chipsets, are complementary to SuperMicro’s commitment to deliver high quality solutions to their customers".
