Supermicro Brings High Performance, Low Cost Dual Intel® Xeon® Processor Based Solutions to the Market
Dual Xeon® Processor Based Server Performance at Pentium® III Server Prices

SAN JOSE, CA. October 7, 2002 – Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of server solutions and motherboards, today announced the high volume production of their most cost-effective solution with dual Intel® Xeon™ processors: the P4DPL-M. One of Supermicro’s second generation server solutions with dual Intel Xeon processors, the P4DPL-M is based on the Intel® E7500 chipset and supports Intel Xeon processors up to 2.80GHz, 12 GB DDR SDRAM main memory and PCI-X 133MHz slots. Two additional serverboards with added features, the P4DPL-8GM and the P4DPL-iGM, will be released soon after (see specifications below). Earlier this year, Supermicro became the first manufacturer to deliver server solutions based on Intel Xeon processors and the Intel E7500 chipset to the market at production volume.

“With the current economic climate, customers are looking for solutions that can justify their IT expenditures,” said Charles Liang, CEO and founder of Supermicro. “This cost-effective addition to our E7500 family of serverboards provides leading-edge dual Intel Xeon processor based performance at roughly the same price as most Intel® Pentium III processor based solutions currently on the market, making it practical for budget-constrained IT managers to upgrade.”

“Server solutions based on the Intel Xeon processor family and the Intel E7500 chipset offer the performance, scalability and reliability demanded in today’s enterprise environment,” noted Hemant Dhulla, director, Enterprise Chipsets Marketing, Intel Corporation. “Supermicro’s new server solution offers compelling price/performance to a broad user base.”

P4DPL-M Cost-Effective Serverboard Available now: features include support for dual Intel Xeon processors up to 2.80GHz with a 400 MHz system bus, Hyper-Threading Technology enabled, support for up to 12GB of PC1600 SDRAM, one 133MHz and two 100MHz PCI-X slots, three 33MHz PCI slots, Intel 82551 10/100 Fast Ethernet, an onboard ATI Rage XL 8 MB PCI graphics controller and dual ATA100. The P4DPL-8GM has the same features but includes dual channel Ultra320 SCSI, zero channel RAID, a Gigabit Ethernet port and IPMI 1.5. The P4DPL-iGM upgrades the P4DPL-M with a Gigabit Ethernet and IPMI 1.5.
