Breakthrough Serverboards Offer Ultra-Fast Data Transfer; Features Include PCI-X 133, Ultra 320 SCSI, Zero Channel RAID Support, IPMI 1.5 and More
SAN JOSE, CA – (Nov. 18, 2002) – Supermicro, Inc.,
a leader in the design and manufacture of server solutions and motherboards,
today announced it has begun shipping five new serverboards, all
of which support next generation Intel® Xeon™ processors with 533
MHz system bus for unparalleled, ultra-fast data processing. Individual
boards also offer a wealth of features for specific needs, making
them ideal choices for a wide range of advanced server applications.
All boards in the new lineup support Intel Xeon processors with clock speeds up to 2.8 GHz for lightning-fast processing. Several include Adaptec 7902 dual channel Ultra 320 SCSI controllers, Zero Channel SCSI RAID support, dual Gigabyte Ethernet LAN ports, integrated graphics and an IPMI 1.5 (Intelligent Management Platform Interface) socket that enables comprehensive, remote web-based management. SuperMicro’s new serverboards are also available as total solutions with expertly designed chasses that include high-availability power supplies with optimized thermal control technology. The company is planning to release several additional dual processor boards based on the Intel Xeon processor with 533 MHz system bus in the coming weeks.
“Once again Supermicro has taken a lead in emerging technology
with this next generation of high performance serverboards,” said
Charles Liang, CEO and founder of SuperMicro. “Our customers are
able to choose from a diverse line of platforms that were optimized
for different applications, such as complex data management, data
mining, communication gateways, e-mail/web servers, general-purpose
servers, and other business-critical server applications.”
Advanced Performance Features All five new 533 MHz Intel Xeon processor-based motherboards are currently shipping. The line includes:
- Super X5DP8-G2 – Based on the Intel® E7501
chipset, the X5DP8-G2 is an extended-ATX serverboard with four
PCI-X channels for high-speed I/O bandwidth that supports two
64-bit/133 MHz, one 64-bit/100 MHz, and three 64-bit/66 MHz PCI-X
slots as well as one SXB slot. Memory is supported with an industry-leading
eight DIMMs for registered ECC DDR-266 SDRAM memory configurations
up to 16GB in size. Equipped with dual channel U320 SCSI support
and a dual Gigabit Ethernet controller, the X5DP8-G2 also includes
an IPMI 1.5 socket and an ATI Rage XL 8MB PCI graphics controller.
- Super X5DPL8-GM/X5DPL-8/iGM – Based on the
Intel® E7501 chipset, these two serverboards also feature high
performance PCI-X bus mastering slots and high speed I/O bandwidth
to support one 64-bit/133 MHz and two 64-bit/100 MHz PCI-X slots,
as well as three 32-bit/33 MHz PCI slots. These serverboards offer
six DIMMs for up to 12GB registered DDR-266 SDRAM, onboard Gigabit
and 10/100 Mb Ethernet ports, and an IPMI 1.5 socket; the X5DPL-8GM
also provides zero channel SCSI RAID support.
- Super X5DL8-GG – Based on the GC-LE chipset
from ServerWorks™, this high-performance, extended ATX serverboard
was designed with four independent PCI-X buses to support one
64-bit/133 MHz and five 64-bit/100 MHz PCI-X slots. Eight DIMMs
provide capacity for up to 16GB of Reg. DDR-266 SDRAM. The X5DL8-GG
also features dual channel U320 SCSI, ZCR SCSI RAID support, an
IPMI 1.5 socket and an ATI Rage XL 8MB PCI graphics controller.
- Super X5DE8 – SuperMicro’s cost-effective dual
Intel Xeon processor-based server solution, the X5DE8 supports
three 64-bit/133/100 MHz PCI-X slots, two 32-bit/33 MHz PCI slots,
dual channel U320 SCSI, ZCR SCSI RAID support and two Gb Ethernet
ports. The X5DE8, employing the ServerWorks GC-SL chipset, also
supports 4 GB ECC Reg. DDR-266 SDRAM, an ATI Rage XL 8 MB PCI
graphics controller and includes an IPMI 1.5 socket for convenient
remote management.
