Supermicro Launches Pentium 4 EM64T Single-Processor Server Solutions
New P8SC8/i and P8SCT Motherboards Feature EM64T, PCI-Express, and DDR2 Memory for Entry-Level Servers
San Jose, CA, September 20, 2004 - Super Micro Computer, Inc., a manufacturer of high-quality motherboard and server solutions has released its latest single-processor serverboards, the SUPER P8SC8/i and SUPER P8SCT, based on the Intel® E7221 (Copper River) chipset. Combining EM64T, PCI-Express, and DDR2 memory performance with impeccable quality in the most cost-effective package available today, these new P4 solutions are optimized for entry-level server platforms.

These boards are designed based on the latest Intel Pentium 4 processor family with Hyper Threading Technology and EM64T, which is built on the most advanced 90-nano manufacturing technology. Running at speeds up to 3.6GHz with an 800MHz front-side bus, these processors feature the LGA775 interface that provides headroom for future technologies and improves electrical characteristics of the connection to the motherboard with a pin-less CPU design.

To satisfy a wide range of customer needs, each of Supermicro's three new E7221 chipset-based serverboards addresses a different market segment. The SUPER P8SCT, optimized for 1U and tower servers, offers four Serial-ATA ports and five legacy 32-bit PCI slots for customers who need to continue using their existing add-on cards. Meanwhile, the SUPER P8SCi is a tower solution with both PCI-Express and PCI slot support and the P8SC8, with dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI, is optimized for 1U or tower servers.

"Our new E7221 chipset-based products integrate the latest server technologies into a single-processor platform that optimizes the price-to-performance ratio for small business or departmental office applications," says Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. "Already offering over 40 new Xeon EM64T (Nocona) server solutions and over 50 new Nocona-optimized chassis, Supermicro continues to provide customers even more choices. With the most extensive line of server building blocks in the industry, Supermicro offers its partners optimized custom server solutions without having to pay a customization premium."

All three of these new single-processor serverboards feature DDR2-533/400 unbuffered ECC memory, a built-in SATA controller to support up to four Serial-ATA drives, and IPMI 2.0 support. In addition, for those users who require superior network performance, each board supports dual PCI-Express LAN via Broadcom BCM5721 Gigabit Ethernet controllers to establish outstanding interconnectivity.
