Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) Servers Now Available from Supermicro with Fujitsu 3.5" & 2.5" SAS Drives
Supermicro Teams with Fujitsu to Produce the Industry's 1st Line of SAS-Optimized Server Solutions

San Jose, CA, August 9, 2005 - Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-quality motherboard, chassis and server solutions, is combining forces with Fujitsu to introduce the world first SAS server solutions to the market. As a part of their collaboration, Fujitsu recently set up an impressive Supermicro server system running 15 Supermicro M28E1 storage mobile-racks that hosts a total of 120 Fujitsu SAS hard drives under a single SAS controller.

"The delivery of a small form factor SAS solution is an important milestone for the storage community," said Mike Chenery, Vice President, Advanced Product Engineering, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "Supermicro and Fujitsu have consistently led the industry in SAS product development, and we were very excited to bring this new solution to market. In the past month we've been pleased with the early customer adoption and look forward to growing implementation moving forward."

Supermicro is launching a complete line of SAS-optimized solutions including servers, serverboards, chassis and storage mobile-racks. The flagship Super X6DH3-G2 serverboard leverages the Intel E7520 chipset to support dual 64-bit Xeon processors running at up to 3.60GHz with 2MB of L3 cache. The X6DH3-G2 features 8 DIMM sockets for up to 16GB of ECC DDRII 400 memory and supports 8 SAS drives with RAID 0, 1. Other features include dual Gigabit LAN, 2 PCI-Express x8, 3 PCI-X-133/100, and one legacy PCI slot, as well as an IPMI 2.0 socket for server management.

Supermicro is currently showcasing the Super X6DHP-3G2 running Fujitsu 3.5" SAS drives in a redundant-power 1U chassis, SC816 at booth 438 of the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco's Moscone West Convention Center from August 9-11, 2005. The impressive performance numbers achieved with this new technology will be on display for all to see live at this event.

In addition, Supermicro and Fujitsu will conduct a series of four road shows to further educate the industry about this new Serial Attached SCSI technology and what it brings to the server market. The first of these "Migrating Servers to SAS" road shows will be held on August 12th at the Westin Hotel Santa Clara, the next on August 19th at the Boston Logan Airport Hilton, the third on September 7th in Tokyo and the final show in Barcelona, Spain in October.
