31-Watt Low Voltage Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor-Based Servers Now Available from Supermicro
Maximized Performance per Watt with Low Heat and Low Noise
San Jose, CA, March 14, 2006 - To further enhance its broad line of high-performance and innovative server products, Supermicro has announced the availability of its new line of low-voltage Intel® Xeon® processor-based server solutions. Based on the Super X6DLP-4G2 and X6DLP-EG2 serverboards designed for the Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor LV 2GHz and LV 1.66GHz with 2M L2 cache, Supermicro has introduced three new SuperServers, the 6014L-M4, 6014L-T and 6014L-M, which leverage its new line of low-power optimized chassis.
"At Supermicro, we are always striving to meet the diverse needs of the server market," said Charles Liang, Supermicro President and CEO. "With Intel's latest low-voltage dual-core processor technology, we enable our customers to meet the demand for high-performance and highly reliable server solutions that consume less power and emit less noise. These server solutions clearly provide our customers with reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)."
"Supermicro has a wide range of server products based on Intel processors and chipsets," said Boyd Davis, General Manager, Server Platforms Group Marketing, Intel Corporation. "This enables rapid adoption of emerging technologies and availability of systems based on today's most advanced server technology."
The SuperServer 6014L-M4 features the X6DLP-4G2 serverboard to deliver excellent multi-tasking performance in a compact (less than 20-inch depth) chassis with low power consumption. Based on the E7520 chipset, this server leverages up to 16GB of ECC registered DDRII memory and supports both PCI-X and PCI-Express cards via a universal expansion slot. It also supports four hot-swappable Ultra320 SCSI drive bays with SAF-TE, while its two onboard PCI-Express gigabit LAN ports offer maximum I/O throughput and networking connectivity. The SuperServer 6014L-M4 is optimized for the consumer and channel market to meet end-users' demand for low-power, high-performance computing (HPC).
To round out Supermicro's new line of low-power servers, the SuperServers 6014L-T and 6014L-M are both powered by a 260-watt power supply and the X6DLP-EG2 serverboard, which is optimized for SATA or IDE hard drives. The 6014L-M, with a depth of 14 inches, is optimized for shallow racks and supports one fixed drive bay, a slim CD-ROM and two front-side USB ports. Similarly cost-effective, the 6014L-T supports two hot-swap SATA drive bays and comes standard with a CD-ROM and floppy drive. Like the SuperServer 6014L-M4, these two servers also feature a universal expansion slot, two PCI-Express gigabit LAN ports and support for up to 16GB of DDRII memory.
Utilizing only a 31-watt processor power envelope, enabling a system to run efficiently on minimal cooling while generating low heat and low fan noise, these low-voltage solutions are ideal for thermally sensitive cluster environments. The new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor LV 2.0GHz and LV 1.66GHz are designed on Intel's 65-nanometer technology manufacturing process. Based on the next-generation, power-optimized micro-architecture, these processors help offer dramatically improved performance and greatly reduced power consumption compared to previous generation technology. The brand new 32-bit Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor LV 2GHz and LV 1.66GHz, with 2MB of L2 cache, offer power-saving features with Demand Based Switching, and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology (EIST).
Supermicro's solid lineup of low-power optimized 1U chassis products includes the SC811LF-260, SC813MS-300C, and SC512LF-260. These chassis feature exceptionally designed energy-saving, low noise fans.
