High-Efficiency Power Featured on New Supermicro Dual-Core Xeon Servers and Chassis
Supermicro Delivers Earth Friendly Power Supplies with New Server and Chassis Product Lines for Reduced TCO

San Jose, CA, May 30, 2006 - Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in high-quality serverboards, chassis and servers, today announced its newest line of high-efficiency power supplies on all of its new SuperServer and chassis product lines. This demonstrates the company's leadership and commitment to delivering high-performance, multi-core server solutions that consume less power. Supermicro now offers environmentally friendly systems that deliver peak performance, low power usage and reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to Supermicro server and chassis users worldwide.

For typical server systems, 78-80 percent power efficiency ratings are considered mainstream efficiency benchmarks. With Supermicro's new power supplies optimized for the latest dual-core Xeon 5000/5100 series (Dempsey/Woodcrest) processors, power efficiency rating tests show impressive results up to 85 percent in many system configurations. With ever rising energy costs, the amount customers can save on monthly energy bills by leveraging this power efficiency results in significantly reduced TCO.

"At Supermicro, we strive to provide our customers with the best technology possible," said Charles Liang, Supermicro President and CEO. "With these new advancements in server power technology, we enable our customers to meet the demand for high-performance and highly reliable servers and chassis that achieve optimal power efficiency. Our new high-efficiency Dempsey and Woodcrest servers and chassis clearly save users money and, just as importantly, help save the environment by reducing energy consumption."

Now, with worldwide energy consumption growing at record rates, using new high-efficiency Supermicro systems and chassis can save valuable natural resources to help preserve the environment for future generations. In addition to complying with RoHS guidelines, Supermicro has also ensured that its extensive lines of new server and chassis products utilize energy as efficiently as possible.

A case in point is Supermicro's new SC816 Series 1U chassis which features super-efficient 700-watt redundant power supplies with up to 85% efficiency or more. These same power supplies are featured in other new 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U convertible tower SC745 Series chassis with 100% cooling redundancy. Even if a key fan fails, the SC745's redundant cooling system keeps the system cool enough to prevent any reduction in performance.

Supermicro's new high-efficiency power supplies are 100% interchangeable on its new dual-core Xeon 5000 and 5100 series processor-based products, which include over 20 serverboards and over 30 chassis models. All of the following new server and chassis products come standard with new high-efficiency power supplies:
