Supermicro Unveils Dual-Core Xeon Servers with up to 64GB FBD Memory Support at Computex in Taipei
Now Available: Record-Breaking Lineup of High-Performance and Low-Power Server Solutions Optimized for Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® 5000/5100 Processors
San Jose, CA, June 6, 2006 - San Jose, California-based Super Micro Computer, Inc., a leader in high-quality serverboards, chassis and servers, is showcasing the industry's most comprehensive line of dual-core Xeon 5000 and 5100 series server solutions at Computex, June 6-10 (Hall 1, Booths B826, B828, B925 & B927). Supermicro's next-generation dual-core Xeon servers feature a 1333MHz FSB and use FBD (fully buffered DIMM) memory. With more than 30 new serverboards and over 30 new optimized chassis models, Supermicro is offering a record-breaking selection of high-quality, reliable dual-core Xeon 5000 and 5100 processor series server solutions with immediate availability.
"For many applications, our new servers not only deliver double the performance, but consume less power than previous Xeon servers, and require users to pay no price premium," notes Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro. "We are experiencing strong demand for server solutions based on the new generation Dempsey and Woodcrest processors, and Supermicro already offers an extensive selection of these exceptionally high-performance platforms."
Consistently a leader in server technology development, many of Supermicro's new dual-core Dempsey/Woodcrest systems offer double the memory capacity versus previous generations with support for up to 64 GB of ECC DDR2 fully buffered memory via 16 DIMM slots. Supermicro's new server solutions support both the new Xeon 5000 and next-generation 5100 CPUs with a 1333MHz FSB delivering better value and greater system stability to customers. These new dual-core server solutions are loaded with exceptional features and offer significantly better performance and performance per watt over their predecessors.
"Supermicro is supporting an extensive portfolio of high-quality solutions based on the new Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5000 series," said Kirk Skaugen, vice president, Digital Enterprise Group at Intel Corporation. "These new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors are expected to improve server responsiveness and provide energy efficient performance while reducing total cost of ownership."
For example, the SuperServer 7045B-8R+, based on the Super X7DB8+ serverboard, features a redundant 800-watt high-efficiency power supply performs at approximately 5% higher efficiency than today's industry standard server power supplies allowing customers to realize a net energy savings of up to $200 per server over 3 years. Housed in Supermicro's state-of-the-art SC745S2-R800 chassis, it features eight dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI hot-swap drive bays and redundant cooling fans with fan speed control. The SuperServer 7045B-8R+ supports up to 64GB FBD memory along with 3 PCI-Express x8 slots, 3 PCI-X-133/100 slots and dual gigabit LAN ports.
All of Supermicro's new server platforms come equipped with Supermicro Intelligent Management (SIM) support featuring IPMI 2.0 server remote management with virtual media over LAN and optional KVM-Over-LAN support. SIM enables server administrators to view a server's hardware status remotely, receive an alarm automatically if a failure occurs, and power cycle a system that is non-responsive.
In addition to the products mentioned above, Supermicro's product offerings optimized for dual-core Dempsey and next-generation Woodcrest processors also include:
