Supermicro® Data Center Management - NMView
[ Introduction | Features | Node Manager 2.0 Enabled Motherboards ]
Node Management Software for Data Center Power and Thermal Management
Supermicro NMView is a server power management software system. It allows IT personnel to control the power consumption of a the servers within a data center by adjusting the power consumed by each processor, server, or group of servers in real time. The result is lower TCO for a data center with little if any compromise in performance.
NMView monitors the data center servers through DCM Server. DCM Server tracks power, temperature, policies and events for all the servers it manages. NMView will communicate with the DCM servers in the data center and present the content to the IT manager. Through NMView the IT manager can add, delete, modify, or refresh server nodes and groups. It is also possible register predefined events, change DCM configuration, and manage policies and events of nodes.
* For NMView to work, following conditions for targeted servers are required:
- ME enabled BIOS
- PMBus 1.1/1.2 spec compliant power supply
- IPMI firmware with Node Manager support
Supermicro Nehalem (or beyond) based systems are capable of meeting the conditions. The systems listed here support DCM by default. For those that are not in the list, please contact Supermicro sales rep for detail.
