Question I have P8SCT motherboard with an IPMI 2.0E card installed. The system works except one small issue concern. I can use IPMI view to connect to the console and see all of the output I am expecting to see. The problem is that I cannot command the system to enter the BIOS/CMOS setup screen. Normally (while using a keyboard and monitor) I can hit the delete key during POST and enter the setup screen. However, when using IPMI viewer the system does not accept the delete key stroke. The delete key appears to be mapped to an - key sequence. How can I enter the BIOS/CMOS setup screen, when accessing the system over the SOL console? Answer For the Award BIOS setting, try this keys command. For Award Serial Redirection Console 1) Go inside the BIOS and Under "Advanced" tap 2) Go inside Advanced BIOS Features 3) "Enable" Console Redirection 4) Choose your Baud Rate (9600,11520, etc) If you want to see more info after the POST screen you can "Enable" Agent After BOOT. For Console Redirect Terminal emulation must be enabled before managed system power up. Press TAB to enter Setup screen. Press Esc twice to take effect. Function keys won't work, use direction keys and choose menu items instead of hot key. Do not un-plug cable while Console Redirection is working and bios is booting up. Was this FAQ helpful?
