Question
I was trying to input the IP and MAC address using the utility for Linux included on the CD and it kept telling me there was no BMC installed. However, when I loaded the driver and ran ipmitool I was getting values reported back to me. I could see in the H8DMU+ BIOS that I could change the IP/MAC addresses as well, is there a step I'm skipping when trying to use the Linux ipnmac utility?
Answer
Probably you used the ipnmac utility not for the SIM IPMI, you need ipnmac v2.3 for the new SIM IPMI cards (also works with the older 1UIPMI/LPIPMI), which is at https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/CDR-SIMIPMI_1.10_for_SIM_IPMI/Rev1.11_Beta/IPMI_Solution/Linux/Utility/.

Besides that, we also have an newer utility IPMICFG that will be able to set gateway and subnet, it can also backward compatible to older IPMI cards, https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/CDR-SIMIPMI_1.10_for_SIM_IPMI/Rev1.11_Beta/IPMI_Solution/Utility/IPMICFG/Linux/
