I'm looking to get some servers and am interested in the Supermicro 2U 4 node solution but I have a few questions with respect to performance. There are a few hardware SMIs that can significantly increase latency at the time scales that I am concerned with. However, to combat this, can I disable these SMIs, despite them not having an entry in the BIOS? Do you know what SMIs the Supermicro firmware produces? Is there a way to turn non-essential ones off? Thanks.
SMIs service are for event logging function. In Supermicro's motherboards, you can disable it in BIOS > Event Logs > Smbios Event Log : Disable. Disabling SMBIOS event log/Runtime Error Logging Support will disable these SMIs (these SMIs mean “a few hardware SMIs that can significantly increase latency at the time scales that I am concerned with”)
