Question
I installed RHEL6 on X9SCL-F, and when I use IPMI remote power control to orderly shut down the system, the system did not shut down and X window pup up a message ask me whether I want to reboot or shut down the system. Is it a firmware bug?

Answer
IPMI firmware only simulate user press the power button when performing "orderly shut down" and the behavior after OS detected power button was pressed is actually controlled by the OS. One example is you can modify /etc/acpi/events/power.conf and comment out the original action and add a line "action=/sbin/shutdown -h now", then the X window will proceed the shut down when performing "orderly shut down".
