We are installing VMware ESX 3.5 U3 on an AS-2041M-32R+B VMware certified server. The system hangs when we load the driver for a LSISAS8708ELP card. What are we doing wrong?
You will see this behavior If the LSI SAS controller resides in PCI-e bus #2, #3 or #4, please put the controller in PCI-e bus #5. The installation of the driver should work without any problems.
The issue is because the VMware kernel can't handle PCI-e bus #2, #3 and #4 behind the IO55 chipset.
