Question
I have your X7DWE main board, BIOS rev 1.1b together with two PCI-e Intel Server Pro 1000 PT QuadPort (EXPI9404PTBLK) NIC card and Windows 2003 installed. The Intel NIC cards can only work properly in the PCI-E x4 slot. When they are used in one of the PCI-e x8 slot, the card gets recognized and accepts an IP address. We can read from the network, but can not write on the network. What could be the issue?

Answer
The PCI-E x4 slot is a PCI-e Gen 1 and all the PCI-e x8 slots are Gen 2. We have a new BIOS to provide better support for Gen 1 add-on cards like your Intel NIC cards in the new Gen 2 slots. Please use the attached file and update your BIOS.
