Installing Riser Cards

Important: Except for short periods of time, do not operate the server without the cover in place. The chassis cover must be in place to allow for proper airflow and to prevent overheating.

  1. Power down the system and open the chassis cover.

  2. Evenly pull the top load riser bracket up and out from the system.

  3. Install the add-on expansion cards into their slots on the riser cards.

  4. Insert the expansion card into the slot(s) on the riser card while aligning the expansion card backplate with the open slot in the rear of the chassis. Flip the small metal lever to secure the add-on card. When lifting the riser bracket, make sure you apply even pressure to both ends.

  5. Connect cables to the expansion card as necessary.

  6. Replace the chassis cover, plug the power cords into the rear of the power supply modules, and power up the system.
