I have a motherboard, X8STI, with Westmere CPU E5620 and I am trying to use Windows XP SP3 for OS installation. After patching chipset driver, it will hang up immediately and need to force powering down. Any reason?

Windows XP with larger than 8 logicial CPU cores, such as Westmere 5600 series, it's required to have hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958244 for first update.
