Question
I have a SuperServer 5017C-URF with Intel E3-1230v2 and 2 of Kingston KVR16R11S8/2L DIIMs. The system was not able to do initial boot and setup. Beep codes indicate missing memory issue (5 short + 1 long). What was wrong with my system? can you help?

Answer
You are using wrong type of memory for your motherboard. The X9SPU-F motherboard inside of your SuperServer 5017C-URF only supports DDR3 ECC and non-ECC Unbuffered memory (UDIMM), while the memory that you have KVR16R11S8/2 is DDR3 ECC Registered DIMM (RDIMM). Please find the correct type of memory and try again.
