I want to use serial console redirection by cable with IPMI (BMC) card, but when I start the Minicom (Linux) program on my workstation, the program stays offline and I cannot accomplish a connection. Do you have any suggestion?

Answer
First, make sure you have a null modem cable. If you have to make one yourself, click here for more information. Second, set the connection baud rate to 38400bps on the IPMI card and Minicom program, then run the LCT program on the server from the IPMI CD to set the baud rate in the BMC card.
