Skylake desktop/workstation motherboards can support Kabylake CPU. However, it's not recommended for users to use BIOS recovery mode for upgrading BIOS from 1.xx straight to BIOS v2.xx version. System/Motherboard may meet no boot issue and the user will not be able to perform any failback recovery or forward upgrade anymore.
In order to accomplish successful BIOS upgrade, using BIOS package with supported BIOS firmware is recommended for upgrading the motherboard to support Intel Kabylake series CPUs.
