For X9DR3-LN4F+, If the fans I am connecting are 3 pins, will the IPMI still interact with them properly?

How does the IPMI detect the RPM of the fans through the motherboard? Which pin specifically allows for this?

3 pin fan will detect fine with our motherboard with IPMI. If it fails, it will show in IPMI as well. But cannot take advantage of fan mode setting.

The third sense pin (TACH) is for fan speed.
