Is there anyway to disable the ACPI support? It conflicts with my Non-linear edit system that I am trying to transfer to this new computer system. I have tried turning it off on the BIOS, but when I do, there is a note saying that turning it off is for debug only and should be re mo ved for production but it is also in the manual? Here is the exact quote from the Non-linear edit hardware (DPS vel oci ty/reality) "Some users are running the ACPI driver for the mo therboard, which will decrease system perfo rma nce. You should be using the MPS Multiprocessor PC driver if you have dual-processors or the Standard PC driver if you have a single processor mo therboard."
The solution is to turn off ACPI in the BIOS and then when you load Windows make sure Standard MPS HAL is detected not ACPI MPS HAL. You can contact Microsoft and they will tell you how you can convert the HAL which saves a reinstallation of the Operating System.
