I have your AOC-USAS-H8iR and I have created a RAID 6 array with four drives. I have now added an additional hard drive because I want to expand my existing RAID by adding this drive capacity to the current RAID 6 set.
I couldn't find the option for RAID expansion in the Mega Raid Storage manager software as well as in the web BIOS of the controller (CTRL-H) during boot up.
I could only assign the new drive as a Global or Dedicated hot spare, is this RAID expansion feature supported. I couldn't find any info in the Manual with regards to this?
Yes, we do support online RAID expansion, but this option is only available in the Mega Raid Storage manager software.
You can find this option at the "reconstruction Wizard" of the Mega RAID Storage manager.
Please follow guideline:
Right click on "Virtual disk : RAID 6", and go to Advanced options, you will find "Reconstruction wizard"
When entering you will get notification that you need to backup your data first, so if you didn't do this, please do it first You now will find a "Add drive" feature in the menu, this option allows you to assign the newly added spare drive, you will see no progress bar, but the Raid set is now getting completely rebuild. This will take some time, after that is finished the drive is part of the RAID 6 array set.
