When I use BIOS recovery mode for upgrading BIOS from 1.0b straight to BIOS 2.0 version on X11SS series Server MBs, I find below symptoms:
1. The system hangs at post "3bh" after processing "Erase Boot Block" at 12% and then do AC Power cycle.
2. The system hangs at post "35h" after processing "Erase Main Block" at 5% and then do AC Power cycle.
Skylake server motherboards can support Kabylake CPU. However, it's not recommended for users to use BIOS recovery mode for upgrading BIOS from 1.xx straight to BIOS v2.xx version. System/Motherboard may meet no boot issue, please follow below procedures for system recovering.
Enter BIOS Recovery mode by JBR1 pin when BIOS crash. The system boot up normally and ME status is normal mode after flashing BIOS 2.0 and 1.0b.
Put BIOS 1.0b or 2.0 binary as SUPER.ROM in USB pen drive.
Procedure:
1). Pull out AC power cord.
2). Set JBR1 pin to 2-3(Enabled BIOS Recovery mode)
3). Plug in AC power cord.
4). System enter BIOS recover mode and update BIOS
5). Pull out AC power cord.
6). Set JBR1 pin to 1-2(Disabled BIOS Recovery mode)
