I have X5DA8 board with 6GB memory modules populated in, but when the Physical Address Extension in Boot.ini is enabled, the system can't detect any IDE device.

Please re-install your Windows 2000 and don't install the Intel Application Accelerator software.Tthat should fix this issue.
