We have recently purchased the SBM-GEM-X2C and we have inserted it in our SBE-710E-R42. We have one problem; it doesn’t accept setting of date & time. I’ve changed date & time to proper values and hit update, but the switch is always returning back to old values. How can I correct this issue?
This feature of changing time from IPMI View (or CMM GUI) is good for the SBM-GEM-001, but it is not very useful for the SBM-GEM-X2C.
It is useful for the SBM-GEM-001 since it has a RTC and can continue to run with the time set from IPMI View. But, the SBM-GEM-X2C does not have a RTC. So even if it did support configuring time from IPMI View, it would only be a temporary setting. On reboot of the switch, the user would need to set the time again. This is not complete and as useful as for GEM-001.
The way to run SBM-GEM-X2C on the correct time is to use NTP. The user can configure NTP with their local or remote NTP server. That would help them to run with accurate time on the SBM-GEM-X2C.
