Question
I have a 6028U-TR4T+ and I am using the E5-2667v4 CPU and using BIOS 2.0b. When I try to install CentOS 7.3, the system hang on installation of microcode_ctl module. If I install 7.2 using an E5-2600 v3 series and put in the E5-2667v4 CPU, when I try to update the kernel to CentOS 7.3, the system hangs during the installation of microcode_ctl-2.1-16. I have also tried using an E5-2600v3 CPU to install 7.3 kernel and when I switch to the E5-2667v4 CPU, the system will not boot.

Answer
The issue is likely caused by the microcode_ctl-2.1-16, please use microcode_ctl-2.1-18.

Please see the RedHat bugzilla report in the link below describing similar issue:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1398698

Download link from RedHat for the microcode_ctl-2.1-18:

Please make sure to be using the latest BIOS, if the issue still exist then please try to create a customized ISO to avoid the installation of microcode_ctl-2.1-16 and after the installation finish, boot into the OS and install the microcode_ctl-2.1-18.

Please check with RedHat for more details.
