The GPU matrix indicates that the system can make use of 2x Tesla v100 GPU’s with the following footnotes: ✔a,d,g,i
[g: Drive bays 0-3 & 20-23 must be unsupported.
The System page indicates that it supports 24 Hot-swap 2.5" drive bays; 14 SATA3 (optional 20 SAS3 + 4 NVMe/SAS3), Optional 2 hot-swap 2.5" rear drive bays for SSDs;. However, it does NOT specify which (4x) drive bays are for the NVMe drives.
If we install 2x NVIDIA Tesla v100 GPU’s into this system, will we lose the ability to use 2.5” NVMe drives in the front chassis? If so, please confirm which drive slots are dedicated for the NVMe and why we cannot move them to the available bays.
That is correct. End-user wouldn’t be able to use NVMe drives with 2x V100s installed since the NVMe capable drive bays are 20-23. Those drive bays need to be unpopulated to provide more airflow to cool the 2x high wattage GPUs (V100).
