| Can’t install the latest LAN driver for X7DVL-E motherboard. When he tries to install the version 14 and 15 he encountered an error about "the installed version of Intel PROSET is not supported for upgrades. You must uninstall before installing this version". |

Run the previous version LAN driver you have. The windows browser will have a show selection of "Modify" or "Remove". Please select "Remove". After finish removing the LAN driver, begin install the latest LAN driver.
Another way to remove the driver:
A. Open regedt32.exe from a command prompt.
B. Backup the registry by choosing File->Export
Note Make sure you back up your registry before proceeding! Modifying/Deleting registry keys can have unintended consequences.
C. Walk the registry to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}
o Remove the numbered (i.e. 0001 or 0007) registry keys where its DriverDesc value(s) = the name of your Intel LAN connection.
D. Walk the registry to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
o Remove the registry keys where, in subKey "Connection"
? Name value= Local Area Connection X AND
? PnpInstanceID value = \ROOT\IANSMINIPORT\xxxx OR
? PnpInstanceID value = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
E. Walk the registry to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards
o Remove the numbered key (i.e. 1 or 5) where its Description value = the name of your Intel LAN connection(s).
F. Remove the following keys, if present:
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Network_Services\ANS
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Network_Services\DMIX
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Network_Services\INST_LANGUAGE_PRIV
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Network_Services\NCS2
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Prounstl\Dins
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Prounstl\Services
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\SupportedDevices
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iANSMiniport
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iANSProtocol
o HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\PROSetDX
? *Additionaly - Search in the Uninstall section for "Intel(R) Network Connections". You may find a key where the DisplayVersion value equals your PROSet/DMIX version (i.e. DisplayVersion = 14.5.1.0). Delete this Key.(i.e. {AAA8CA88-8A22-43D1-867F-ABD7944C9815})
G. Remove the following under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders
o ..\Intel\ANS\
o ..\Intel\DMIX\
o ..\Intel\DMIX\Hlp\
o ..\Intel\DMIX\Resource\
o ..\Intel\DMIX\uninst\
o ..\Intel\NS2\
o ..\Intel\NCS2\Agent\
o ..\Intel\NCS2\Scripts\
o ..\Intel\NCS2\WMIProv\
o ..\Intel\NCS2\WMIProv\MOF
H. Then save and reboot. |
