Question
How do I make my NVMe drive bootable?
Answer
You need to set the NVMe drive to UEFI and install a UEFI capable OS in UEFI mode.

You can go into your BIOS (of course the BIOS must support UEFI, not supported on our AMD boards or older Intel boards) and go to Advanced >> PCIe/PCI/PnP configuration. Here you will find either an option for your storage devices in general (set to legacy or UEFI) or you can set independent PCIe slots to use either UEFI or Legacy.

When the NVMe device is set to UEFI you can save and exit and then press F11 during the POST to get the boot menu. In the boot menu select to boot from the media that holds your OS installation, in UEFI mode (it should note "UEFI: ". The rest of the installation is as normal.
After the installation of the OS you can go into the BIOS again and check the bootable device list, if all went well you will have a new entry for the OS you installed.
