Question
User is experiencing a black screen issue after entering RHEL 7.5 x86_64 from text mode. With legacy or UEFI mode by using SATA AHCI or RAID configuration, the problem can still be duplicated and user may refer to the answer field for solution.
Answer
AMD and Mehlow platform, such as H11SSW-NT / X11SCZ-F and X11SCE-F, may happen with this failure. This problem is caused by Aspeed driver and the user can deploy with a workaround solution from the steps below:



Workaround#1: User can add "nomodeset" parameter in booting grub configuration to resolve this problem while installing OS.

Workaround#2: For those users with this synopsis, it can be resolved by Aspeed display driver update. Using driver revision v1.08 or later version will be required. Driver is available for downloading from Aspeed website,

Instructions are listed with the following steps.

a) Unzip driver package file.

b) Install the driver from script #./auto-update.sh

For other kernel distribution, please check the readme file inside the driver package for updating.
