Question In P8SCT BIOS Setup under Advanced Chipset Control, there is an AHCI option in the SATA Mode selection. Can you tell what this AHCI is? Answer ICH6 supports indenpendent DMA operation on 4 SATA ports. The SATA controller contains 2 modes of operation: a legacy mode using I/O space, and AHCI mode using memory space. Basically, AHCI offers better disk performance than Legacy SATA Mode, but a driver will be required if you set to AHCI. Was this FAQ helpful?
