I’m running CentOS6.4 with kernel 2.6.32. I installed the AOC-STG-B4S NIC and it looked like the OS detected it without any additional drivers (ethtool could blink the lights, ip link could detect link, etc).
I moved to running a data throughput test over a port in the AOC-STG-B4S and within a few seconds, my entire Linux box froze up hard; it needed to be power cycled. When it came back up, I repeated the same exact test and it froze the machine in the same way.
Could this be because I haven’t installed the drivers you suggested? Even though the OS appears to recognize the chipset (at least at some level)?
This might be due to the Driver and the Firmware revisions being out of sync. You can have older firmware with newer driver but you can’t have newer firmware with older driver. Please download the latest driver to see if this solves the issue.
