We are using the X7DWA-N main board in a 3rd party chassis with a Bequiet 1000W power supply. The problem we encounter is the system powers on briefly and shuts down immediately. 1000 Watt should be enough for a minimal hardware configuration. What could be the issue?

This is a power supply incompatibility issue. We recommend using Supermicro power supplies to prevent this kind of compatibility issue in the future. For example you can use PWS-865-SQ : 865W Super Quiet High Efficiency Power Supply (28Db noise rating).
