I want to use serial console redirection by cable with my IPMI (BMC) card on my P4DP6-Q, but when I start the Minicom (Linux) program on my workstation, the program stays offline and I cannot accomplish a connection.

Answer
First, make sure you have a null modem cable. If you have to make one yourself, see HERE for more information. Set the connection baud rate to 38400bps for the IPMI card and Minicom program, run the LCT program on the server from the IPMI CD (CDR-010) to set the baud rate in the BMC card.
