Question
I downloaded the latest driver for AIC-7902 from Adaptec's site which claims it supports Sun Solaris 9 for the U320 controller onboard the Supermicro X5DP8-G2 motherboard. However, the U320 controller does not get recognized as AIC-7902. It shows AIC-7896; which is the U160 version. I was wondering if you are going to release any drivers for AIC-7902 Ultra320 cards for Sun Solaris 9 soon?

Answer
This is a known issue, and SUN will fix this in the next update/release of Solaris 9 and Solaris 10.

The root cause is:
The U2 embedded driver detect its supported scsi chip based on the subsystem device ID = 005F, instead of the device ID. This is the reason that during installation, the driver would load for an AIC-7896.

Workaround:
Disable 0x5f ID in cadp driver by editing the following files- /etc/driver_aliases and /boot/solaris/devicedb/master
