I have several OfficeBlades with the normal Switch. The manual doesn't seem to explain anything about the switch, but I wonder if there is some way to reserve bandwidth so that a backup job doesn't slow down the entire local network or blades on the same switch. I don't use the second Ethernet slot and thought it may be run as a separate channel somehow.
If you want to use the second Ethernet NIC on the Blade Server, you can use a feature called Uplink Failure Tracking (ULFT). It is provided primarily for allowing redundancy, but if the OS allows shared use it might be possible to divert the back-up job traffic to the second link. It also requires a second switch. The OS will need to be configured for “Teaming” (Windows) or “Channel Bonding” (Linux) for its two Ethernet links.
