I have an X7DWU main board and SIMSO+ IPMI card. I am not able to see the Virtual CD and floppy in the BIOS. I have another system running the same configuration, and in that I am able to see the virtual devices in the BIOS. Is this IPMI card defective?
No, the card is not defective. You may be having an old IPMI firmware in the other system. In all the current IPMI firmware, Pepper Virtual CDROM and floppy will only be seen in the BIOS if virtual media redirection is enabled and active. Please connect CDROM or CD image using virtual media redirection and reboot the system. After that you will be able to see the virtual device in the BIOS.
Alternately, you can go to web interface and uncheck the option below. After that reboot the system and you will see the virtual devices in the BIOS.
