Question
I am looking at the X10-SL7-F for usage with ESXi. Especially with the SIL controller in pass-through for ZFS. With version 5.5 of vSphere/ESXi it now have the option to provided the guest VM with a slice of hardware accelerated graphics if the host have a compatible GPU. And intel is now listed. Do the motherboard let ESXi see the integrated graphics from a Xeon CPU even though the MB does not have ports for it?
Answer
I checked with our lab and they said it is not possible. Since the X10SL7-F only uses the ASPEED chip for graphics, and the Intel C224 chipset does not support integrated graphics. Since the board was not designed to use the integrated GPU, there is no way for VMWare ESXi 5.5 to access and use the integrated GPU for passthru.
