Question

I was alerted to the fact that the IP assigned to the IPMI of the X7SPE-HF-D525 was vulnerable.

I discovered this FAQ http://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=17908

Different motherboard than mine but symptoms sound the same. I have disabled the NTP client on this host for the moment. This disables it as an NTP server.

I do not have physical access to this device at present but I am hoping there is an updated IPMI firmware that can remotely be applied to fix this.

Answer
For the X7SPE-HF-D525 IPMI - NTP Vulnerability, you can contact TS for SMT_313.zip or above firmware. It has the fix for this issue. Make sure you do not use the X9 firmware which are labelled SMT_X9_x.zip, or the X10 firmware which are labelled SMT_X10_x.zip
