Question
We have the Superserver SYS-2028TP-HC1TR, we tried to upgrade the firmware on the 3108 raid controllers/backplanes model BPN-ADP-S3108L-H6iRP, but we were getting an error after we hooked up the battery. The error was: “NVRAM has gone bad”. Would you please help to correct me if my process has anything wrong ?
Answer

Please help to unplug the SuperCap kit first, and confirm the SuperCap kit model name was : BTR-CV3108-TP1. Then download the latest FW file from the link : ftp://www.supermicro.com.tw/driver/SAS/LSI/3108/Firmware/

Copy all the files, boot from USB key and run SMC3108.bat file under dos environment.

After the firmware update process, connected with BTR-CV3108-TP1, and you can confirm the status below :

TFM LED : Blue LED lights on, auto off after 30 secs.
LSI BIOS Self detect : Battery Status : Fully charged.
MegaRAID Configuration Utility : Battery Status : Optimal.
