I have X7DAL-E server motherboard with 4 memory modules and 2 CPUs. The manual for the motherboard suggests population the memory in banks 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A DIMM to get the best performance, but it gives out beeps without posting. If I put memory in 1A, 2A, 1B, 2B, it works with no problems. What is wrong with the board? Must the memory be put in 1A, 2A, 1B, 2B if I have two CPUs?
The manual has a typo error or may be referring to a different X7DA-xxx motherboard series. The X7DAL-E motherboard has two branches of memory banks:
1A, 1B, 2A and 2B are in the first branch.
3A and 4A are on the second branch.
With the X7DAL-E motherboard, the memory must be populated on first branch which is 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B whether it had one or two processors installed.
