I have your X7DVL-3, I want to create with 4 SATA drives two RAID 1 sets and set a dedicated Hot spare per RAID set is this possible?

Answer
The user has two options. The user can create the required set up with the on-board (ESB2) SATA controller or via the on-board LSI SAS (1068e) controller. Both controllers do not support a dedicated hot spare per RAID set, but both do support multiple global hot spares.

With the LSI SAS controller, the required set up can be done in the LSI controller BIOS, while with the SATA (Intel RAID BIOS) controller, the user has to create the set up afterward with the Intel Matrix (management) software.
