Question
I am using SIMxx IPMI card. I'm trying to get email alerts to work using the System Health-->Alert Settings page on the web interface to the IPMI card. I realize that I have to setup a filter. There are several fields on the filter page that are not explained (e.g. Sensor Number, Sensor Type, Generator ID, etc...). Can you provide a description of what goes in these fields?

Answer
Here is the example to enable the SNMP trap/Email alert when any event happens. Please see Fig_11057.jpg. FF means enable every event, does not mask any event.

Some question you may have
Q1) I assume the Destination entry is the number of the destination of the entry in the LAN Destination List. Is that correct?
A1) Yes that is correct.

Q2) I assume the Policy Set entry is the number of the Filter in the IPMI Filter List. Is that right?
A2) The Policy Set entry is the number of the alert policy in the IPMI Filter List.

Q3) What does the Channel No. field represent?
a3) LAN channel is 1, specs define serial/modem but we don’t use this now.

Q4) What does the Alert String field represent?
A4) It is needed when you use serial/modem way to send trap.

There are hundreds of combinations for the sensors and it is pretty complicated. Sensor codes are attached in Table_11057.doc. Please refer to the Sensor codes to set the desired configuration
