I have an older Supermicro Server 7045A-8 that has 3 hard drives and a AOC-LPZCR2 RAID Controller. The drives are setup as RAID 5; drive 0 of the hard drives died. There was an alarm on the server that started going off. The server is running Windows 2003 SBS. I did not shutdown the server but installed a new hard drive in slot 0. The drive lit up green for about 10 seconds and then went off. The alarm is still sounding on the server. Is this supposed to be hot swappable or do I have to reboot the server, go in the Adaptec Configuration Utility, Go to Manage Raid Container and do “Ctrl R” in order for it to pick up and Rebuild the drive?
Is there a utility that will allow you to do that from Windows, if so do you have a link?
Have you yet had a chance to install the Adaptec Storage Management? If not, please click on the attached link and select the latest version.

If you did install the ASM, please create the Hotspar disk and rebuild; the alarm will be off after rebuild done.
